Volunteering at Putra Mosque, Putrajaya

17 August 2016, 14 Zulkaedah 1437

Few weeks ago, after I took my Cambodian friend to visit Putrajaya and Putra Mosque, then I interested to become a volunteer at the mosque. Mosque is the most nice and peaceful place to be. Also, as Putra Mosque is one of the tourist attraction, so I have chance to meet new people from all over the world, making new friends and practice my english.

So, I send a message to Masjid Putra's facebook, asking whether they have volunteer program and who should I refer to, then they gave me a senior volunteer's phone number, brother Raja Aman Shah.

Here are some questions ask by the tourists regarding Islam and Putra Mosque:
  1. When was this mosque built?
  2. Why does the male and female have to pray separately?
  3. Can they pray together at home?

Pre Marital Course in Malaysia

12th July 2013, 7th Syawal 1437

Bismillah hir rahman nirraheem...

When I studying in Adelaide, I've been forced by my ex housemate, Aimi to attend a pre marital course. The course was organised by UMNO Adelaide. We have to pay $50 to attend the course.

It was very helpful, motivated and amazing. To me, if you firmly follow the guidance, your marriage will be fine. InsyaAllah. However, always bear in mind that the purpose of marriage is for the sake of Allah swt. If we love someone because of Allah swt, the love will never die.

I was so proud with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), that I told everyone that I met in Adelaide that I've just attended a pre marital course. We, the Malaysian muslims are obligated to attend the pre marital course and take HIV test before marriage. To keep safe our generation and make sure we and our partner are free from HIV as it may spread to others. There's no other country that I know, that legalise this requirement. Not even Indonesia, Brunei and Australia.

Recently, I've been asked by my Australian friend, sister Kate Day about the course. She is planning for her marriage, and want to know what have been taught during the course. So I google it, and found a link from JAKIM. But I need to translate it into English first. Here are the list of the course modul:

Part I
1. Morals
2. Marriage and Procedures
3. Worship
4. Beliefs

Part II
5. Health Management
6. Financial Management and Time
7. Relationships in the Family
8. Communication Spouse

Part III
9. Stress Management
10. Dissolution of Marriage

When Adelaidean comes to town...

11/6/2016, 6 Ramadan 1437

A friend of mine, James Bell came from Adelaide to visit Malaysia. I knew him in Adelaide. I used to work as a housekeeper at a house in Hutt St where he lived with his mates, Douglas Sweet. Just came to know that Doug used to lectured James at uni where he did his first degree in Queensland. Doug is a Phd holder.

Me and my friend, Natrah took him to Malacca the historical city on a daytrip.

10.00am  Leaving Nilai to Malacca.

11.30am  Arrived at Dataran Pahlawan. Asked James to have his lunch first while me & Nat went to the mall to collect Nat's winter jacket as she is going to Japan winter festival next year.

12.30pm  Visit Stamp museum, Malay & Islam museum and Malacca Sultanate museum. Hoping to visit all the museum nearby, but didn't have much time, plus quite tired of fasting. So we asked James to see A' Farmosa and climbed the hill, while me & Nat went to the nearest surau for prayer and rest.

8.15pm   Arrived at Aunty Aini's restaurant for dinner. Ordered beef rendang, daging salai masak lemak, kailan ikan masin and sambal petai. Aunty Aini joined us after dinner, and had a chit chat. She even bought us drinks. James loves 'kopi susu', and he really like the beef rendang. Yes, it was the best beef rendang ever!!!

Putrajaya

10/6/2016, 5 Ramadan 1437,

Surat Al-Ĥujurāt (The Rooms), Chapter 49, verse 13

49:13

Sahih International
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

Malay
Wahai umat manusia!

When Adelaidean comes to town....

Today, I will have a friend, James Ronald Vernon Bell (James Bell) coming for visiting from Adelaide. I knew him at Uni when he was doing his 2nd degree. Well, don't misunderstood, he's not my boyfriend. I love making friends, and when i'm in oversea, I am happy to invite people to come and visit Malaysia. That's what we should do as a Malaysian isn't it?

Will take him to visit Putrajaya on the first day, and Melaka on 2nd day. Where and what are the interesting nice places to visit in Putrajaya? He will come after I finish my work at 5pm, then he will return to his accommodation in KL, probably at 10pm, so will have about 4 hours to see Putrajaya. Such a quick trip.

Besides the central of Malaysia, I recommended him to visit Langkawi. I reckon it is nice for the tourist to visit Langkawi during Ramadan as not too crowded. Last year, I also had a guest from Adelaide, Glenn & his son, Ethan. They went to Langkawi for 5 days. Hoping that they will enjoy their stay in Langkawi. I prepared a list of nice places to visit in Langkawi. I will share on my blog as well.

These are my list, but will keep update if any:

1. Bazar ramadan/Pasar Malam
2. Masjid Putra
3. Masjid Besi
4. Taman Botani
5. Building and bridges along Presint 2 to Presint 4.

Where else to visit?

Will keep updating :)
